The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, in partnership with Stewart's Photo Shop in Anchorage, has set a Nov. 1 deadline for submission of entries to the first annual Alaska Fish Photo Contest.
The goal is to find great photos that can be used in educational materials to celebrate the diversity of Alaska's native fishes, their seasonal movements and behavior, and their importance to people and ecosystems in Alaska and beyond.
In particular, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is looking for high resolution photos taken in Alaska that: convey information about the natural seasonal behaviors and habitats of Alaska's fish; depict fish that are alive (ideally under water or held partially/fully submerged in the water; depict their different seasonal behaviors/habitats/life cycle stages; capture the unique nature of subsistence, personal use, recreational, and commercial fisheries.
Photos submitted after Nov. 1 will be entered in the 2012 contest.,
First prize is a Kodak Easyshare Sport waterproof camera donated by Stewart's.
