Unalaska's Hallidie Wilt hopes to add to her collection of all-conference honors this weekend when the University of Alaska Anchorage junior participates in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships in Monmouth, Ore.

Wilt has pocketed five career all-conference finishes over the last two years. She will compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and 1,500 and 5,000 runs at the two-day meet that begins Friday.

Her best chance to win a title should come in the steeplechase since she holds the school record and ranks No. 2 in the GNAC with a time of 10 minutes, 48.9 seconds. She is six seconds back of top-ranked Courtney Olsen, a senior at Western Washington.

The 21-year-old Alaskan also ranks No. 7 in the 1,500 and No. 8 in the 5,000, putting her on pace to collect more individual accolades. The top eight finishers at the GNAC meet are named all-conference.

Her qualifying time in the 1,500 time is 4:36.69 and her 5,000 qualifying mark is 17:23.36.

Regardless how she fares at the GNAC Championships, though, Wilt has put herself in position to possibly compete at the NCAA Division II Championships by virtue of her provisional qualifying marks in all three events during the regular season.

Part of the deal with provisional qualifying marks is waiting to see if somebody beats you out for a trip to nationals, so Wilt will try to better her position at the conference meet this weekend to ensure her place on the big stage.
